- Organisation. The Magraid is a Joint Venture among Institutions and A.S.D. Triathlon Team with the precious support of private associations.
- Definitions of Megraid and Magraider. “Magraid” is a race in laps with final classification results and prize money. There are also single-lap classification results with prizes in value vouchers. “Magraider” means the Athlete who participates in this Event. What belongs to the Magraider is the spirit with which they confront a race, while living a real base camp life in a tent, often together with the other participants.
The Magraider’s equipment aims at both safety and performance, which is, however, an expression of the Endurance racing.
- General Terms and Conditions. Enters are limited to a maximum number of 100 participants who will be accepted by the date of entry received, except for 10 Wild Cards (Organizers reserve the right to invite any Athletes of their choice). If the number of entries exceeds the maximum number of 100 places, a Waiting List will be drawn up in case of any vacancies to the last minute. The race is open to Athletes of any nationality and gender who are 18 of age or older on the day of the Event. No entry fee will be refunded in case of athlete’s withdrawal or disqualification by the Race Judges.
- Entry Conditions. Upon registration, participants must submit their Medical Certificate for Competitive Sports Activities which shall be valid at least until the day after the race has been concluded. Participants confirm that they are entitled to competitive sport activities for the year 2010 and that they are specifically trained for ultramarathons. They also confirm under their own responsibility that they comply with the Italian regulations set forth in law n° 376/2000 (anti doping) as subsequently amended and supplemented. The Organization shall not be held civilly nor criminally liable for any physical occurrences to athletes before, during and after the Event.
- Categories. Both categories and classification results are absolute for both male and female participants.
- Technical and administrative Check. All fitness documents and equipment will be checked at the registration desk and upon the start of the Marathon Lap, those who pass the checking, will be given the compulsory race label with the Event Logo stamped on it.

- Programme. The Event Programme may undergo changes due to technical reasons or weather conditions.

Individual sponsors may display their adverts in the starting places or promote their activities in not exclusive merchandise sectors, provided the Organisation has give its prior consent.
Laps and Equipment
-
Soil Condition. Soil is more demanding than it may seem at a first examination, especially because of its extreme variety: in fact, it ranges from soft soil to moorland, from stony river bed of large size to a majority of gravelly land. Participants are recommended to check the official web site for any further information and news: the Organisation staff is at disposal for route inspections. Do not forget that the route length is not absolute, both free navigation and soil unevenness may lead to changes to the run length with respect to the minimum theoretic length.
-
Route. Three laps for a total of minimum 100 km. The Magraid is divided into three laps: lap 1 is 25 km long, lap 2 – the Marathon lap – is 55 km long and lap 3 is 20 km long.
-
Short Laps. The first and last laps are approximately 25 and 20 km long; during these laps, equipment may be freely chosen, subject to the safety rules: runners must keep at least 1 litre of water with them. The Camel Bag is highly recommended.
-
Marathon Lap. It is 55 km long. The following minimum equipment is compulsory:
Shorts, suitable shoes (at least A2 type or higher), short armed T-shirt, cap, at least 1.5 litres of liquids in containers of participants’ choice, Camel Bag recommended, two energy bars.
Failure to follow this rule will result in a time penalty of 60 minutes. The Organization reserves the right to disqualify the competitors concerned.
It is compulsory for athletes to have a mobile phone with them with the emergency numbers saved.
-
Compulsory Equipment. The Magraid is run under conditions which may easily become extreme, with torrid heat and dust suspended in the air, which is typical of the steppe environments. The compulsory equipment takes only the macroscopic aspects into consideration. The aspects which may make the difference are dealt with in the following article.
-
Recommended Equipment. Sun glasses, bandana, sun protection cream, sunburn cream, blister kit, a spare pair of sockets also during the Marathon lap, biting insect protection, whistle, pocket tissues, and a compass.
-
A spare pair of shoes. Athletes can have as many spare pairs of shoes as they like.
-
Support. It is strictly forbidden to accompany, follow or come ahead the participants at a short distance by bike or give them any foodstuff. People may reach the refreshment points by bike without interfering with the race. The presence of cars belonging to runners’ mates in the Magredi area will result in the participant’s disqualification.
Markings and Check Points
-
Check Points. Several check points will be organized; some check points offering first aid and medical assistance will be communicated and signed; some of them are secret and some other are mobile. There will also be an air control with aerial videos and photographs.
-
Markings. Routes are marked through suitable pegs in the soil, flags and small balloons as well as by race staff placed at critical points. However, free navigation will be granted during the Magraid in many points: a correct orienteering and the choice of the course belong to the participants’ individual strategies, which are subject at any time to passing through the compulsory points marked in the Road Book, which will be given to all participants. The final instructions on the route will be given during the Briefing on 18th June 2010.
-
Road Book. All participants will be given a Road Book with some GPS coordinates in case they use a wrist-worn satellite system to check the route. Both first-aid and supply points are marked in it.
Health & Safety
-
Mutual Help Obligation. According to the pure “Magraider” spirit, all participants must help their race colleagues which are clearly in trouble and inform the nearest medical assistance point as soon as they can.
-
Supply Points. Even though the race is run under partially food self-sufficient conditions, there will be a refreshment point nearly halfway along the route during all laps.
-
Water Bottles. It is strictly forbidden to leave bottles or any other plastic object along the route. Refreshment will be supplied in such a manner as to avoid such an event or, in any case, as to identify the authors of the breach.
-
First Aid. The Italian Red Cross - Section of Pordenone – will organize the first-aid stations along the route as well as the first-aid station at the Base Camp. Dr. Francesca Della Bianca will be the Race Doctor.
-
Interruption of the Race by the Chief of Health & Safety. The Magraid will be constantly being checked by the Medical Equip which may at any time require athletes to withdraw from the race due to problems that may arise and which prevent them to run under safe condition.
-
Withdrawal. Withdrawals must be communicated at the nearest Check Point and to the Race Direction at the Base Camp where the number must be returned.
The Magraid is a 100 km race divided in laps but it is considered as a single performance. Athletes who withdraw at any lap will be excluded from the classification results and, as a consequence, from participating in the next day’s lap.
-
Weather Conditions. The Magraid is run in a place where wild nature reigns. The period should not be problematic, still natural phenomena of high intensity may not be excluded. Changes to the route or race suspensions may be deemed necessary according to the Race Director’s decision – which is final – under the control of the Public Security Authorities.
-
Insurance. UNIPOL – Agency of Pordenone – will grant an insurance policy covering the Magraid according to the rules to be published onto the official web site and given to athletes upon Check-in.
Timing – Results - Prizes
-
Timing. Timing will be performed by the Federazione Italiana Cronometristi (Italian Timekeepers Federation) and posted up at the Race Directors’ office.
-
Score. Each participant will score 1 point for each second. The participant with the minimum total score will be the winner. For the victory of each lap, a Bonus of 15 points will be granted, that is, 15 second will be taken off.
-
Maximum Time allowed. The classification results are based on the penalty time points which reflect the lead in seconds from the fastest finisher.
Failure to cross the gates or pass through the finishing line within the maximum time allowed will result in the athlete’s withdrawal.
The maximum time allowed after which the participants’ performance results in a withdrawal will be communicated before the start and depend on weather and route conditions
Organizers reserve the right to establish gates at about halfway along the route of each lap, whose maximum time allowed will be communicated at the Briefing and published on the official Web site. Delay at the gates will result in the athlete’s withdrawal from the race and the athlete will be driven back to the Base Camp by assistance staff’s means of transport.
-
Penalties. In case of any irregularity in the equipment and refreshment or in case of any route short cut, the penalty list expressed in points will be published on the official Web site.
-

The total prize money is € 5,000.00 in prize vouchers: all in all, € 3,000.00 are awarded to the fastest 10 finishers of the male category and € 2,000.00 to the fastest 5 female finishers of the female category, respectively.
