Magraider is the Athlete who participates in this Event. It is in the Magraider's spirit to confront a race where athletes stay at a real base camp, sleeping in tents and often living side by side with their opponents. The Magraider’s equipment aims at both safety and performance, which is, however, an expression of Endurance racing. 8. General conditions. The race is open to Athletes of any nationality and gender who are 18 of age or older on the day of the Event. No entry fee will be refunded in case of Athlete’s withdrawal or disqualification by the Race Judges. 9. Entry Requirements. The Organization shall not be held civilly nor criminally liable for any physical occurrences to the Athletes before, during and after the Event. 10. Technical and Administrative Check. 15. Soil Condition. Soil is more demanding than it may seem at a first examination, especially because of its extreme variety: in fact, it ranges from soft soil to moorland, from stony river bed of large size to a majority of gravelly land. Participants are recommended to check the official web site for any further information and news: the Organization staff is at disposal for route inspections. 16. Route. Three stages for a total of 100 km. Magraid is a running race divided into three stages: the 1st stage is 25 km long, the 2nd stage is a 55 km ultra marathon and the 3rd stage is 20 km long. 17. On the second day, any Athletes (complying with Art. 9 and 10 hereunder) may participate in the 55 km long Marathon Stage. The so called "Five-Five Magraid" has individual Men and Women's Absolute Classification Results with their own prizegiving (as provided in Art. 43 hereunder). 18. Short Stages. The first and last stages are approximately 25 and 20 km long respectively; during these stages, equipment may be freely chosen, subject to the safety rules: runners must keep at least 1 liter of water with them. Camel Back is compulsory. 19. Marathon Stage. Any Athlete participating in the 55 km long Marathon Stage taking place on June 16 must have the following equipment: shorts, suitable shoes (at least A2 type or higher), short armed T-shirt, cap, at least 1.5 liters of liquids in a Camel Back (compulsory), three energy bars and a whistle. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a time penalty of 60 minutes. In addition, the Organization reserves the right to disqualify the competitors concerned. Athletes must have a mobile phone with them with the emergency numbers saved on it. 20. Recommended Equipment. Sun glasses, bandana, sun protection cream, sunburn cream, blister kit, a spare pair of sockets also during the Marathon Stage, biting insect protection, pocket tissues, a compass and a GPS. 21. Spare Pairs of Shoes. Athletes may have as many spare pairs of shoes as they like. 22. Support. It is strictly forbidden to accompany, follow or come ahead the participants at a short distance by bike or give them any foodstuff. Spectators may reach the refreshing points by bike without interfering with the Race. The presence of cars belonging to runners’ mates in the Magredi area will result in the participant’s disqualification. Markings and Check Points. 23. Check Points. Several check points will be set up; some check points offering first aid and medical assistance will be duly communicated and signed; some of them are secret and some other are mobile. There will also be an air control with aerial videos and photographs. 24. Markings. Routes are marked through suitable pegs in the soil, flags, tapes, arrows and small balloons as well as by race staff placed at critical points. The route must be strictly followed without any deviation nor free navigation. The final instructions on the route will be given at the Athletes' Briefing on Friday. Strictly following the route is of vital importance in order to respect the natural environment where Magraid is run. 25. Road Book. For the Marathon Stage all participants will be given a Road Book with some GPS coordinates in case they use a wrist-worn satellite system to check the route. Both first-aid and supply points are marked in it. Health & Safety
26. Mutual Help Obligation. In line with the pure "Magraider's spirit", all participants must help their race colleagues who are clearly in trouble and inform the nearest medical assistance point as soon as they can. 27. Supply Points. Even though the race is run under partially food self-sufficient conditions, there will be a refreshing point nearly halfway along the route during any stage. 28. It is strictly forbidden to leave bottles or any other object along the route; otherwise participants will be disqualified. Refreshment will be supplied in such a manner as to avoid such an event. 29. First Aid. The Italian Red Cross - Section of Pordenone – will organize the first-aid stations along the route as well as the first-aid station at the Base Camp. The Race Doctor will be introduced at the Briefing. 30. Interruption of the Race by the Health & Safety Chief. Magraid will be constantly being checked by the Medical Equip which may at any time require Athletes to withdraw from the race due to problems that may arise and which prevent them to run under safe condition. 31. Withdrawals. Withdrawals must be communicated at the nearest Check Point and to the Race Direction at the Base Camp where the Race Number must be returned. Magraid is a 100 km long race in three stages but it is considered as a single performance. Athletes who withdraw at any stage will be excluded from the General Classification Results but will be allowed to participate in the next day’s stage, subject to the Race Doctor’s approval. 32. Weather Conditions. Magraid is run in a place where wild nature reigns. The period should not be problematic, still natural phenomena of high intensity may not be excluded. Changes to the route or race suspensions may be deemed necessary on the Race Director’s discretion – which is final – under the control of the Public Security Authorities. 33. Insurance. UNIPOL – Agency of Pordenone – will grant an insurance policy covering Magraid according to the rules to be posted up at the Base Camp. Time-keeping – Results – Prizes
34. Time-keeping. Time-keeping will be performed by Wedo Sport (www.wedosport.net) and posted up at the Race Direction. 35. Score. Each participant will score 1 point for each second. The participant with the minimum total score will win the race. A 15 points Bonus will be granted to the winner of each stage - that is, 15 second will be taken off. 36. Maximum Time allowed. Due to safety reasons and with enough time to run, the Organization reserves the right to set up gates halfway of each stage. The maximum time to cross the gate will be communicated at the Briefing and depend on weather and route conditions. Any delay at the gates will result in the athlete’s withdrawal from the race and the athlete will be driven back to the Base Camp by assistance staff’s means of transportation. 37. Penalties. In case of any irregularity in the equipment and refreshment or in case of any route short cut, the penalty list expressed in points will be communicated at the Briefing. 38.
